I was so focused on building a version of JetGordy that simply worked that I didn’t stop to explain the purpose I intend for the platform to serve in the world. For me to do that, it’s important for me to share the background of how JetGordy came to be.
A lot of my childhood was spent at a strip mall on Old Garner Road that my dad, my brother, and my brother’s friends had businesses. You might have come there to get your car fixed, or retrieved after being towed, and then wanted your car washed after. And while you were getting your car washed, you might as well get a haircut. If you were hungry, there was a trailer serving hot fried fish on Fridays. I always knew I could run a business because that’s what I grew up seeing. Except, instead of running one business in the strip mall, JetGordy is a digital Main Street where businesses and people are brought together by informative, positive, powerful storytelling.
JetGordy strives to produce the highest quality work, and I only want to work with those who are committed to pushing the culture forward. I bring my background in entrepreneurship and software engineering to the table, and I want to work with people whose skills and values complement mine. I believe everyone has something meaningful to contribute. I’m looking for talented writers who can bring their perspective to different topics, along with creators experienced in short-form video and open to collaborating on larger creative visions.
JetGordy is an extension of who I am as a connector. I created the platform to help people find businesses, events, and gems tailored to their individual interests within their community. JetGordy works with local merchants to increase their sales by reaching audiences most likely to become their customers. For visitors, the goal is to build the kind of trust where they know they can find what they are looking for, with repeated visits creating an experience like visiting a luxury clothier that understands your taste and knows which pieces to show you first.
In addition to the website, an important feature of JetGordy is the newsletter, which gives people an easily accessible way to keep in touch with what’s going on in the city. Deals, events, content, and local businesses curated to a person’s interests are delivered to subscribers’ inboxes. The goal is to give someone a weekly snapshot of what’s happening around them. There is a treasure chest of side quests to get into around Dallas, and JetGordy’s mission is to make them easier to discover.
This isn’t a blog. This isn’t Substack. This isn’t WordPress or Wix or Shopify or Eventbrite. I architected the system, designed the visuals, and curated the content.
JetGordy is more of an extension of who I am than the articles themselves, because it is the living product of the fruits of my mind and the mustard seeds of my faith, with the articles being my observations on the world around me.
If you have that missing piece that helps complete the puzzle, contact newsletter@jetgordy.com.
